Larger libraries have Local Studies collections relevant to their area, and these usually include maps and family history searching facilities.
Kendal Library has an outstanding Mountaineering Collection, most of which is
available for loan. Carlisle has the most
comprehensive collection of local material, as well as music scores and play sets, and a
selection of novels for use by reading groups.
